Nokomis Knitting Company is known for handmade socks. However, we also use our reclaimed materials to make unique fiber artworks. Each piece is one of a kind.

Using only yarn, this three panel series represents the metamorphosis of a Monarch Butterfly: Chrysalis/Caterpiller/Monarch. The Monarch relies on Milkweed for laying eggs then for sustenance through other life stages which is why it appears on every panel.

This series was a labor of love as the Monarch populations become more and more threatened by habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. We hope to honor and commemorate these fragile but resilient creatures that are amazing to witness.
